It's the critical planting season for early rice in southern China. In the Heshan District of Yiyang, Hunan, over a dozen multifunctional tractors are shuttling back and forth across the thousand-acre rice paddies. Amidst the roaring sound, they seamlessly complete the processes of plowing, soil breaking, sowing, and mulching. Compared to traditional agricultural machinery from previous years, this year's tractors feature a new "one-touch mode switching" feature. Farmers no longer need to constantly change implements; simply select the corresponding program on the control panel to quickly switch from plowing mode to sowing mode. This has increased the daily operating area of a single machine from 20 mu to 35 mu, improving efficiency by nearly 70%.

"Before, plowing and sowing two mu of land would take a whole day. Now, with this new machine, I can complete the task in half a day, and I don't even need to hire help." Farmer Li Jianguo, squatting on a ridge, watched the tractors precisely sow rice seeds, and couldn't help but sigh with admiration. He pointed to the seeding device on the rear of the tractor and explained that this equipment uses sensors to adjust seeding density in real time, limiting the amount of rice seeds per mu to around 2.5 kg, saving 15% compared to manual seeding and maintaining a stable seedling emergence rate of over 90%.

To ensure efficient operation of agricultural machinery during the spring plowing season, the Heshan District Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau organized over 30 agricultural machinery technicians in advance to conduct tractor operation training and maintenance services in various townships. "We not only teach farmers how to operate new functions, but also regularly inspect the machinery's oil circuits, electrical circuits, and operating mechanisms to ensure trouble-free operation," said Zhou Ming, director of the district's Agricultural Machinery Promotion Station. Currently, over 280 multi-functional tractors have been deployed for spring plowing across the district, covering 120,000 mu of early rice planting area. This year's early rice sowing cycle is expected to be shortened by five days, leaving ample time for subsequent field management.

Furthermore, the local area has established an "Agricultural Machinery Dispatch" WeChat group. Farmers simply post their work needs within the group and are quickly matched with nearby operators. This solves the previous problem of "farm machinery unable to find plots of land, and farmers unable to find machinery." "Not only can we work faster now, but we can also adjust sowing depth and fertilizer application rates in a timely manner with guidance from agricultural technicians in the group. This year is sure to be another bumper harvest," said Li Jianguo.
