Driven by the "Dual Carbon" goal, my country's hybrid tractor battery technology research and development has recently achieved a significant breakthrough. The Chongqing Energy Vocational College Hybrid Agricultural Machinery Battery Project Team has successfully developed a super-hybrid intelligent tractor battery pack with independent intellectual property rights. This effectively addresses the high energy consumption and high emissions of traditional tractors, providing key technical support for the green transformation of agricultural machinery.
Through in-depth field and workshop research, the project team accurately identified industry pain points and challenges. They conducted technical research to address the harsh operating environments, long operating hours, and high battery maintenance costs of agricultural machinery. Inspired by plant roots, the team transformed the traditional "tic-tac-toe" heat sink into a tree-like fractal structure. By utilizing bifurcated channels to optimize the fluid path, the team increased the battery's heat dissipation efficiency by 35%, effectively addressing the slow heat dissipation issues associated with strong vibration, dust, and large temperature fluctuations in agricultural machinery.

At the same time, the team comprehensively upgraded the battery management system (BMS). Using big data analysis and over-the-air (OTA) technology, this system enables 24/7 remote monitoring of battery status, providing real-time insights into battery safety, performance, heat levels, and other conditions. Remote diagnostics are also available, significantly reducing battery maintenance costs by 45%. Test data shows that hybrid tractors equipped with this new battery pack reduce exhaust emissions by 60%, achieving environmental protection while maintaining strong operating power, fully meeting the needs of agricultural production.
Currently, this hybrid tractor battery technology has been granted three patents and two software copyrights, and its technological innovation has been certified by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a first-level novelty search institution. At the end of March 2025, the project team participated in the National Agricultural Machinery Exhibition and reached preliminary cooperation agreements with several leading industry companies, accelerating the industrialization of the technology. Yang Heping, President of Chongqing Energy Vocational College, stated that this technology represents a significant achievement in integrating the college's dual entrepreneurship education with rural revitalization efforts. It will continue to promote the green transformation of agricultural machinery power systems and inject new momentum into achieving carbon neutrality in agriculture.
With the widespread application of this technology, hybrid tractors in my country will usher in a period of rapid development. It is estimated that by 2026, the market share of hybrid tractors will exceed 10%. This will reduce agricultural diesel consumption by over 800,000 tons annually, making a significant contribution to the green and low-carbon development of agriculture.
